Impact/Testimony

Unity Project

“Jo has a wealth of personal experience and a large number of contacts to provide a range of activities and experiences.

Jo is able to offer a personalised service to meet the needs of the school. An initial meeting was held which enabled us to discuss the areas we felt we should address. Jo suggested a range of approaches and activities that were tailored to our school. As a local person, Jo was able to speak very personally of her experiences and her knowledge of the community was invaluable as she was very tuned in to our school community.”

Creating a Cultural Paradigm – Inset training for Teachers

“Staff have an increased confidence to teach children about diversity and commonality. This has opened created a dialogue to discuss issues such as bullying and racism. Children developed a better understanding of their own attitudes and reflected on what it means to belong. The dialogue between families was increased as the project provided opportunities for adults and children to explore the different backgrounds, experiences, heritage and culture.”

Effects of Racism & Bullying

“Thank-you for much for the workshop you put on for year 3 and 4 this week – it really got the message across to the children in an engaging way.  The feedback form the children has been really positive and they seemed to particularly enjoy the drama element of the workshop. It helped them explore both sides of the issues behind bullying. It is too early to see if it has had a longer term effect on the children but I am sure it is something they will remember.

Thanks once again Victoria Wisdom Yr4 Teacher.
